Cochlear Hearing Loss Detection System Based on Transient Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this paper is to evaluate the application of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and support vector machines (SVM) to transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) in order to achieve a detection of frequency-specific hearing loss (HL). We introduce a system to determine detection rates between groups of persons with normal hearing, high frequency hearing loss, and pantonal hearing loss. The validity and use of our approach is verified on a different patient group.

The relationship between ultra-high frequency thresholds and transient evoked otoacoustic emissions in adults with tinnitus
Background: The possible role of cochlear function in tinnitus generation is still a matter of debate. To assess the role of outer hair cell dysfunction in tinnitus and its possible relationship with ultra-high frequency (UHF) hearing sensitivity, transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) and UHF hearing thresholds were investigated in normal hearing individuals with and withou...

متن کاملEvaluation of Distortion and Transient Evoked Otoacoustic Emission in Tinnitus Patients with Normal Hearing
Introduction: Tinnitus is a perception of sound without external source. The exact etiology of tinnitus is not fully understood, although some researchers believe that the condition usually starts in the cochlea. The aim of this study was to determine the potential contribution of outer hair cell dysfunction to chronic tinnitus, by application of Distortion-Product Evoked Otoacoustic Emission (...
متن کاملScreening for Hearing Loss among High Risk Neonates– Experience from A Tertiary Care Center
Hearing loss is one of the common congenital problems among neonates [1]. The prevalence of significant hearing loss ranges from 1.2 per 1,000 healthy newborn infants and 2 to 5% in high-risk newborns [2,3]. Nearly 50% of congenital hearing loss is due to genetic defects [1]. About 50% of hearing defects can be detected in a selective screening based exclusively on hearing risk criteria [1]. Ea...
متن کاملNewborn hearing screening by transient evoked otoacoustic emissions: analysis of response as a function of risk factors.
Hearing loss can be considered as the most common birth defect. Early detection of hearing loss by screening at, or shortly after, birth and appropriate intervention are critical to speech, language and cognitive development. In the present study, the characteristics of Transient Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions have been evaluated as a function of known pre- and perinatal risk factors for hearing ...
